The Maoists today released the images of the funeral ceremony of their top leader RK alias Akkiraju Haragopal, who died of illness a couple of days back.
The ceremony was held between in the Pamedu-Kondapalli area near the Chattisgarh-Telangana border.
The rituals were completed by 2 pm on Friday afternoon.
A huge number of the Maoists took part in the ceremony and paid their tributes to the departed leader. They also put up a red flag on the body of RK.
RK hailed from Tumrukota village of Rentachinthala mandal of Guntur district. He had been suffering from diabetes, joint pains and kidney disease. He breathed his last in Bijapur of Chattisgarh on Thursday morning.
He was working as the Central Committee member of the Maoists, and was also in-charge of the Andhra Odisha Border (AOB) unit of the renegade outfit.
RK joined the Maoists 38 years back. He also attended the discussions held by the then AP government with the Maoists in the year 2004 as the representative of the Andhra Pradesh state committee.
