Many Arrested For Eve-Teasing By She Teams

The Hyderabad City Police's She Teams have booked 23 persons on different counts of sexual harassment and misbehaviour against women in the city.

In the first case, a 23-year-old resident of Parthasarathi Nagar and a student from Indiramma Colony, both in Dharmavaram, were selling SIM cards. They were allegedly misusing the information of the buyers they had to harass women over the phone using obscene language. Based on a complaint registered by two victims from Hyderabad, the accused were traced, arrested and produced in court.

In other cases, a 25-year-old tailor from Ganga Nagar in Yakuthpura, 2 students from Dilsukhnagar, a 22-year-old man from Khairatabad, a mathematics teacher in a private school in Chandrayangutta, 13 persons near St Francis College and 3 persons at the Bahadurpura zoo park were arrested for making illicit phone calls, stalking, harassing a minor, indecent and suspicious behaviour, eve-teasing and inappropriate gestures, respectively.

All majors were produced in court, and all minors were counselled on appropriate behaviour and on harassment, and were warned.

The police department has urged people to be more vigilant and report any and all cases of eve-teasing and harassment of women to the She Teams by dialing 100, calling them on their WhatsApp number or approaching them directly in HACA Bhavan, near Public Gardens, Nampally, whichever was more convenient.
