A youth was arrested by the Banjara Hills police for allegedly threatening to pour acid on a housewife.
Police said that a 28-year-old housewife, who lives in Vinayaknagar Basthi in Filmnagar, was working as a tailor. She was being constantly harassed by one Raju from the same area, who used to frequently come to her shop and ask her to come out. Not only was he harassing her, he also threatened to pour acid on her if she didn't heed to his demand.
One day when she was going home after finishing her work, Raju came from behind and tried to forcibly get her to get onto his bike. As she raised an alarm, her husband, her mother-in-law and other onlookers came rushing to her rescue. On seeing them, Raju threatened to kill all of them and ran away.
The woman and her husband then filed a complaint with the Banjara Hills police, who registered cases under Section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 509 (insulting modesty of a woman by force) of the IPC.
The police have taken up investigation.
