A 29-year-old software professional, identified as K Sunitha, was allegedly murdered by her former husband Devarakonda Mahesh in Green City Colony, Vanasthalipuram, this afternoon.
The Vanasthalipuram police said that the attack was reportedly triggered by personal resentment following Sunitha's recent divorce and remarriage.
According to investigators, Mahesh entered her residence armed with two knives and a can of petrol. After confronting her, he engaged in a heated argument before launching a brutal assault. He stabbed Sunitha multiple times and later struck her on the head with a flower pot, causing fatal injuries.
She was found lying in a pool of blood inside the house by her family members who responded to her screams. Mahesh had locked himself in the washroom, and was taken into custody by the police. He is currently in police custody and being questioned as part of the ongoing probe.
Sunitha's body was shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Mahesh was unable to accept Sunitha's decision to remarry shortly after their a year back, which may have driven him to commit the crime. The police are examining whether there were other underlying issues, including any threats or previous disputes between the two.
