BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail today accused the Congress government of underutilising funds meant for minority welfare, citing low allocations and delayed releases.
Speaking to the media, the BRS leader said that only Rs 267.73 crore were cleared for the first quarter of 2026-27, continuing a pattern of underspending. Against the annual budget of Rs 3,769 crore, expenditure was unlikely to cross Rs 1,200 crore, or 31.8%, he added.
Sohail flagged pending dues from 2025-26 and alleged that approvals without actual fund disbursement were affecting scheme implementation. He pointed to partial releases across key programs, including Rajiv Yuva Vikasam and minority education schemes. Minority institutions continued to face difficulties due to non-payment of bills and salaries, and uncertainty persisted over the actual release of approved funds, he added.
Criticising Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he said that the government had failed to deliver on its promise of a Rs 4,000-crore minority welfare budget and full utilisation through a sub-plan despite completing two years and four months in power.
Lamenting that delays were impacting institutions and beneficiaries on the ground, he demanded immediate release of funds, and greater transparency.
