Man Gets 1 Year Rigorous Imprisonment For Seeking Rs 2,500 Bribe
Kanakam Chandraiah, Senior Auditor in the Office of the District Audit Office (Special Cell), State Audit Department, Warangal, demanded the petty bribe.

Kanakam Chandraiah, Senior Auditor in the Office of the District Audit Office (Special Cell), State Audit Department, Warangal, was convicted in an ACB case on February 21 by Mohammed Afros Akthar, FAC Special Judge, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, for embezzlement of scholarship amounts in the Social Welfare Department.
The special judge sentenced Chandraiah to undergo one year of rigorous imprisonment and also pay a fine of Rs 10,000 for the offence. In case he defaulted on payment of the fine amount, he would undergo a simple imprisonment of three months, the judge ruled.
Chandraiah had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 2,500 from the complainant for an official favour - "getting authorization for the conversion of service pension to family pension issued in the name of complainant's mother and forwarding the same to the District Treasury Officer, Warangal".
