The Special Court for ACB cases on Monday deprecated the ACB officials failing to file a counter to the bail petition of TDP MLA Revanth Reddy in the "Note-for-Vote" case. It posted the case to Wednesday.
The ACB had to file its counter today. When it sought more time, the judge expressed unhappiness and posted the case to Wednesday.
The judge asked the investigating agency to file the counter without delay.
The counsels for Revanth Reddy informed the court that their client was being tortured mentally by the ACB officials, who were not providing him even basic facilities. Countering the defence counsels, the ACB officials said that they had provided all permitted facilities to the accused, and submitted video footage as evidence to the court.
Meanwhile, the ACB continued questioning Reddy and his two accomplices in the scam. Its sleuths quizzed the trio at the ACB headquarters for the third consecutive day today, after first taking them to the Osmania General Hospital for a medical check-up.
The ACB is questioning them to find out the source of the Rs 50 lakhs, and also from where they planned to bring in the other Rs 4.5 crores of the Rs 5 crore deal amount.
They were also being questioned about the complicity of other political leaders.
The interrogation on the third day assumed significance in the wake of the release of an audio tape - a purported telephonic conversation between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and the Telangana MLA Stephenson. The audio tape was aired on Sunday night on T News, a channel reportedly owned by the TRS. (NSS)
