Taking charge from the outgoing Deputy General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma, the new DGP M Mahender Reddy on Monday said that making Telangana a crime-free state would be his top priority.
Speaking to the media, Reddy thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for reposing faith in him and entrusting him with the top role.
The new DGP said that all officials in the department - right from home guards to those at the top level - would be given due recognition.
Talking about the initiatives for Hyderabad, Reddy said that more CCTV cameras would be installed in the city to keep a vigil on the law and order situation.
Reddy also stressed on the need for friendly policing, and said that it should be implemented more effectively across the state. Police personnel should mingle more freely with the public to achieve this goal, he added.
Meanwhile, former DGP Anurag Sharma on Sunday took over as Advisor in the home department.
