The Disciplinary Committee of the Movie Artists Association (MAA) today convened a virtual meeting that was chaired by the committee's chairman, veteran actor Krishnam Raju.
It was held so that the association could reach a decision regarding the organisation of elections for various MAA posts.
Veteran actor Mohan Babu posed a volley of questions to the committee members on the occasion and reminded them that a building was bought for the association earlier but that it was later sold off, leaving the MAA without an office space.
Saying that he was hurt over the sale, he alleged that the rate at which the building was sold was far lower than the cost at which it had been bought and asked the members whether any of them had even bothered to enquire why the building was sold off.
Meanwhile, MAA member actor Prakash Raj urged the body to hold the elections at the earliest. He recommended that the elections be held either on September 12 or 19.
Many prominent members have been pressuring the body to decide a date for the elections - some days ago, a group of members had demanded that the body's disciplinary committee
hold the elections as soon as possible.
Further, the members had voiced their displeasure at those levelling allegations against the incumbent MAA president Vijaya Krishna Naresh and had urged disciplinary committee chairman Krishnam Raju to "take action" against the people
"damaging the reputation" of the body.
This year, actors Vishnu Manchu Prakash Raj, Hema, C V L Narasimha Rao, and Jeevitha Rajasekhar, are currently in the fray for the post of MAA president.
