Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday disallowed the adjournment motion moved by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP A Revanth Reddy claiming breach of oath of office by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Reddy, in his adjournment motion notice, said that KCR had called for abolishing the existing Constitution and writing a new one for India.
"He is inciting the youth of this country to revolt," Reddy alleged.
"The Indian constitution is the best, and is ideal for the entire world. If any changes are required for it to stay in tune with the changing needs of the country, the Constitution may be amended. But by proposing a completely new Constitution, CM K Chandrashekar Rao has displayed his disrespect and hatred for Dr B R Ambedkar and many others on whose ideology this Constitution is based," he said in the notice.
He said that KCR, as part of a larger conspiracy hatched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had proposed a new Constitution so as to end democracy and impose a dictatorship.
By introducing a new Constitution, Modi and KCR wanted to end the reservations in jobs, education and politics being given to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and others.
He also said that Modi and KCR wanted to suppress all the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution drafted by Dr Ambedkar.
In addition to moving the notice, Reddy also sought permission to raise the matter during the Zero Hour on the issue.
However, the Lok Sabha Speaker disallowed the motion.
Reddy announced that the Congress would nevertheless continue to raise the issue on all the available public platforms, besides exploring legal options against KCR's remarks.
For the uninitiated, the TPCC President has also given a call for statewide protests against KCR for his "anti-Constitution" remarks.
