Live Heart Taken To NIMS From Malakpet In 15 Minutes
A live heart was shifted today to the NIMS at Panjagutta from the Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet in 15 minutes thanks to a green channel set up by the police.
A live heart was shifted today to the NIMS at Panjagutta from the Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet.
The heart will be transplanted to a 30-year-old patient at NIMS, a painter who had registered his name with the Jeevandan Trust of the state.
Though the distance between the two hospitals is 11 km, it took just 15 minutes for the authorities concerned to shift the heart to NIMS, thanks to the police making arrangements in advance to transport the heart and creating a green channel.
The heart was harvested from a brain-dead person, a police constable from Khammam district named Veera Babu, who met with a road accident on the 12th of this month.
Babu was shifted to the Yashoda Hospital for the treatment, but the doctors of the hospital declared him brain dead.
