This afternoon, the Hyderabad traffic police in coordination with the Cyberabad traffic police arranged a green channel and facilitated the transport of live organs (lungs) from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, to KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad.
The distance between the airport and the hospital is 35.3 km, and was covered in 27 minutes.
The medical team carrying organs left the airport at 2:12 pm and reached the hospital at 2:39 pm, passing through the PVNR Expressway, S D Hospital (Mehdipatnam), Lakdi-ka-Pul, Old Saifabad PS, Iqbal Minar, Tank Bund and Ranigunj.
The efforts of the police in the transportation of the organs were applauded by the management of KIMS Hospital as they would help in saving precious lives.
In 2023, the Hyderabad traffic police have facilitated organ transport nine times. "We care for our citizens," said G Sudheer Babu, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad.
