Ex-Chief Minister K Rosaiah is reported to have lobbied long and hard with All India Congress President Sonia Gandhi for the position of Governor.
The former Finance Minister spoke to Sonia on Tuesday about the Governor berth that was promised to him when he vacated his CM seat for Kiran Kumar Reddy last year.
However, charges were levied against Rosaiah that he was allegedly a part of a land allocation scam soon after he resigned as the CM.
According to sources, Rosaiah had alloted 9 acres of land that belonged to a metropolitan authority to one G N Naidu during the former's short tenure as the CM. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is currently investigating the case.
Kiran Kumar Reddy was asked by the Centre to try and get the case dropped, and the CM is reported to have attempted to do the same, but the serious nature of the case has rendered him helpless.
It has been reported that incriminating evidence has been gathered against Rosaiah, and that the ACB had also acquired proof that the former CM had ignored the then Revenue Pricipal Secretary's recommendations against the allotment.
