Hyderabad | 20th September 2010
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao, on Sunday, refuted the allegations of Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Venkaiah Naidu that the government was not functioning in the State.
Talking to media persons at his residence, VH said that the government was functioning well under the leadership of Chief Minister K Rosaiah and was addressing people's problems efficiently.
Though Rosaiah faced problems since assuming charge after the sudden death of former chief minister YSR, he had handled difficult situations very efficiently, he stated.
The Rajya Sabha member asked the BJP leader to look into the administration of BJP-ruled states first as they were facing several problems.
"He can comment on other states after putting his house in order," Hanumantha Rao pointed out.
VH said there was no leader to head the BJP after former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
"The BJP has lost its sheen after Vajpayee, and no one believes in its policies. There is no leader to head the party," he said.
VH pointed out that Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa was facing several problems due to the mining lobby of the Gali brothers and internal disputes within the the party. He advised Naidu to solve the Karnataka CM's problems and then focus on other BJP-ruled states, before commenting on Andhra Pradesh.
Reacting to Telugu Desam leader K Yerrannaidu's statement that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has finally opened her eyes and was acting on corruption after 9 years, he questioned as to why he had not raised the issue earlier.
The Parliamentarian asserted that the government would not spare anyone found involved in corrupt practices, even if they were the family members of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Rao also called on people and all parties to maintain peace and harmony in the wake of the Allahabad High Court's expected verdict on the Babri Masjid title deed case on Sept 24th.
