Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today inaugurated a Road Under Bridge (RUB) near Hitech City's MMTS station along with GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi.
The bridge has been constructed to ease the vehicular congestion that had earlier posed a serious problem to motorists in Telangana's capital city. It is 410 meters long and 20.60m wide, and has a 9m bi-directional carriageway.
Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that the bridge had been constricted at a cost of Rs 66.59 crore, and that the newly inaugurated RUB would help about 5 to 6 lakh commuters who travelled between Hitec City and Kukatpally daily, and that it would also benefit those travelling on the Mumbai Highway.
The bridge, the minister added, would also solve the problems of water-logging near the train tracks that had inconvenienced motorists for years.
Talking about the TRS government's other project to battle traffic troubles, he said that the government would be spending Rs 3705 crore on the development of better drainage facilities and storm water drains as part of its strategic road development plan.
"The ongoing strategic road development plan will address issues of water-logging on roads, traffic congestion and poor drainage. The GHMC and its officials are working hard to turn this plan into a reality so that the people of Hyderabad can enjoy congestion-free and safe road travel. The roads afflicted by the aforementioned problems are currently being identified," KTR explained.
"20 similar projects will be completed across the city at a cost of Rs 4,741 crore. We have already spent Rs 100 crore on 18 projects. These projects include some RUB and Road Over Bridge (ROB) constructions and landscaping efforts," he added.
