Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today conducted a site inspection at the Vanasthalipuram junction in connection with the proposed elevated corridor from L B Nagar to Pedda Amberpet in Hyderabad.
Accompanied by officials from the National Highways Department, the minister assessed the area and spoke about the urgent need to advance the project.
Komatireddy said that the government planned to construct the elevated corridor at an estimated cost of Rs 650 crore. He said that it would be developed as a greenfield road, enabling travellers to reach Vijayawada from Hyderabad in just a few hours.
"I plan to meet Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on August 6 to discuss the prompt implementation of the proposed work," he said.
The minister also took the opportunity to criticise BRS working president K T Rama Rao for claiming that Hyderabad had been completely transformed by flyover construction during the BRS government's tenure.
He spoke about the delays in the completion of the Uppal-Narapalli flyover as an example, and asked what the previous government had actually delivered for the people over the past decade.
"The previous BRS government failed to bring about any significant development. It pushed Telangana into debt while branding it as a Golden Telangana. And now they speak of economic issues and social justice. What connection does Kavitha have to BC reservations anyway? Why didn't she raise the concerns of BCs in the last ten years?" he asked.
"That is why people voted for the Congress - to safeguard the State's future. And our government is committed to ensuring that all eligible individuals receive basic benefits such as ration cards, rice and Indiramma houses," the minister added.
