Telangana IT & Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today offered Rs 5 lakh to a poor girl to pursue MBBS studies.
The minister offered the monetary help to Avunuri Akhila, who got an MBBS seat in the Malla Reddy Medical College.
The girl hails from Rajapur village of Kamanpur mandal in Peddapalli district. She studied up to 4th class in Little Flower School in her village, 5th to 10th class in the Gurukul School in Narmyala village, and Intermediate in CEO College in Alugunur. She then got the 4,000th rank in NEET, and secured an MBBS seat in the Malla Reddy Medical College at Suraram in the city.
The girl is however reportedly quite poor and cannot afford to pay the admission fees for the college.
Coming to know about that, the minister immediately offered financial help.
The girl with her family members then called on the minister at Pragathi Bhavan at his chambers.
Rao gave a cheque for Rs 5 lakh to Akhila, and also promised to help her in the future for her studies.
