M Kodandaram is likely to resign from the chairmanship of the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC) to assume responsibility of the newly formed political party Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) founded by him.
Kodandaram announced this after visiting the martyrs memorial at Gun Park in front of the Assembly building today.
The TJS Formation Day will be organised on Sunday at the Saroornagar stadium, and Kodandram is likely to take charge as the president of the new party there. In the meeting, he would announce the future course of action of the TJS, and declare that he was stepping down as the TJAC chairman, sources said.
TJAC was formed during the Telangana statehood movement as an umbrella front for multiple political parties. It was led by Kodandaram, and played a major role during the movement.
