M Kodandaram tendered his resignation to the position of Chairman of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) on Sunday.
The JAC Executive Committee accepted Kodandaram's resignation.
There was an election subsequently for the Chairman's position, and Telangana Electricity JAC president Raghu was elected the new Chairman of the TJAC.
Speaking on the occasion, Kodandaram said that the role of the JAC in achieving statehood for Telangana was unforgettable, and that there were no organizations like the JAC across the nation. He thanked everyone for extending cooperation to him since 2009, and said that he was leaving the JAC for a more direct role in politics through the TJS. The JAC would continue to strive for the construction of a strong democratic Telangana, he said.
The Telangana JAC's extended meeting was held at in Tarnaka.
