Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) president Professor Kodandaram and journalist Amer Ali Khan today took oath as Members of Legislative Council (MLC) under the Governor's quota.
Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukendar Reddy administered oath to both leaders as MLCs at his office in the Assembly.
Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, Government Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud and other leaders attended the oath-taking ceremony.
The Telangana High Court had earlier stayed the appointment of MLCs under the Governor's quota. However, the Supreme Court recently stayed the High Court's order.
The previous BRS government had recommended Dasoju Sravan Kumar and Kurra Satyanarayana as MLCs under the Governor's quota in July 2023, but the then Governor rejected their appointments. The new Congress government appointed Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan to these seats in January this year, but the High Court had struck down their appointments.
