Hyderabad | 13th August 2025
In a significant development, the Supreme Court today granted a stay on the appointments of M Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan as MLCs under the Governor's quota.

Delivering its verdict on a petition filed by BRS leaders Dasoju Sravan and Kurra Satyanarayana, the court ruled that fresh nominations for the two MLC seats would be subject to its final order.

Modifying its earlier order of August 14, 2024, the court declared the appointments invalid and adjourned the hearing to September 17.

It may be recalled that petitioners Sravan and Satyanarayana had approached the court after their plea opposing the appointments was rejected by the Governor. They had termed the appointments under the Governor's quota illegal, and urged the apex court to review and cancel them.
