Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao on Thursday claimed that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had left for New Delhi early on Thursday morning because he was afraid of facing the TDP, which was pressing him for a Joint Legislative Committee (JLC) probe into the alleged land allotments in the state.
The TDP MLA told media persons at the Assembly media point that Kiran Kumar Reddy was trying to avoid giving explanations to the TDP. "This is nothing but shirking responsibility," stated Umamaheswara Rao.
Leaving the issues raised by the opposition unanswered and going to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi shows the level of his commitment to the welfare of the state, the TDP MLA stated.
He said that since the Chief Minister had gone to New Delhi, the least he could do was to take Sonia Gandhi's permission and order a JLC probe into the allocations of lands to the business associates of former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Turning his attention to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao, the TDP MLA stated that KCR had failed in his bid to press for the introduction of the Telangana Bill in the Parliament. "This is because of the lack of will on KCR's part," Uma Maheswara Rao.
Alleging that KCR is cheating the people on Telangana state formation without doing proper ground work, he challenged the TRS chief not to return to Hyderabad without getting the Telangana Bill introduced in Parliament.
Reacting on official candidates losing in the Legislative Council elections, the TDP leader stated that some leaders had lured voters with money and had forced them to resort to cross-voting.
