Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated the Cherlapalli railway terminal.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also participated in the event online.
The CM expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of Telangana for the completion of the railway terminal.
He also called upon the Union government to provide its full support for the advancement of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project Phase 2.
Reddy reminded Modi that the State government had previously submitted proposals to the Centre for the development of Phase 2 of the project, and requested the Centre's assistance in facilitating its completion.
He also said that the State government had also already formulated plans for a 370 km Regional Ring Road in Telangana, and urged the Union government to fully cooperate in the construction of both the RRR and the Regional Ring Rail.
(The Regional Ring Rail is proposed to be constructed on the exterior periphery of the Regional Ring Road with Rail over Rail at a few places - Akanapet, Yadadri, Chityal, Burgula, Vikarabad, Gate Vanampalli, Medak, Siddipet and Gajwel. This line will traverse through the districts of Vikarabad, Medak, Siddipet, Kamareddy, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy. The rail line will also connect important towns like Vikarabad, Sanga Reddy, Medak, Akanapet, Siddipet, Gajwel, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ramannapet, Chityala, Narayanapur, Shadnagar and Shabad.)
Reddy also urged the PM to provide assistance for the construction of new railway lines connecting Vikarabad to Krishna, and Kalwakurthi to Macherla, and an additional two lines from Dornakal.
The CM said that the advancement of the railway system in the State was crucial as it was a land-locked State and its development would therefore be closely tied to its railway infrastructure improvements.
He also said that the Union government needed to collaborate on the development of a greenfield highway and a direct railway network linking Hyderabad with the Bandar port.
The CM said that the State government was committed to transforming Telangana into a one trillion dollar economy, which would contribute to the larger objective of making India a five trillion dollar economy.
