Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Thursday, submitted an explanation to the Election Commission of India, in repsonse to
charges of violating the model code of conduct during their election speeches.
In his explanation note, Kiran Kumar Reddy stated that he did not intentionally ask the electorate to cast 10 votes each, and that he had only asked them to mobilise people to cast their votes. He said that he had asked the voters to exercise their franchise judiciously, based on the government's welfare schemes.
He admitted that the word "10 votes" in his election speech was mistaken, and tendered his apology to the commission for it. (INN)
