The Election Commission Of India, on Tuesday, issued notices to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for delivering speeches violating the election code of conduct. The speeches were made during the by-election campaign in Tirupati, Rayadurgam and Anantapur Assembly constituencies.
The Commission took serious note of the Chief Minister's remarks in which he appealed to voters to cast 10 votes each for the ruling party in the by-elections. Later, the YSR Congress party lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, stating that the CM's statement violates the election code of conduct.
Following the complaint, the Election Commission issued notices to Kiran Kumar Reddy, asking him to give an explanation before 31 May, 12 noon. (INN)
