Gun Misfiring Kills Students
2 10th class students were killed and 2 others injured when a gun misfired, allegedly due to the negligence of a constable, at an arms exhibition.

2 tenth class students were killed and 2 others injured when a gun misfired, allegedly due to the negligence of a constable, at Government High School at Velairpad in Khammam district, on Wednesday.
According to Velairpad Sub-Inspector Ravi, the incident took place when a constable Srinivas, attached to the 6th battalion of Mangalgiri in Guntur district, was explaining the functioning of a carbine to students at an arms exhibition at the school. He is believed to have failed to notice the live rounds in the carbine.
Srinivas was explaining how the gun fires, and pulled the trigger of the carbine on display. Unfortunately, the 9mm bullet pierced through the chest of one of the students, and injured 3 others. The student, identified as Mediapalli Venkata Krishna (15), son of Venkateshwarlu, was killed on the spot.
The other student, Saibabu died while undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital in Khammam. He was first rushed to the Government hospital in Sathupalli but was shifted to Khammam as his condition deteriorated.
A large number of students from high schools and colleges from the district had thronged the exhibition, and the officials has decided to exhibit AK-47, 303 LMG, which contains 1,000 live rounds in single magazine, rubber bullets, pistols, rifles, 9 mm carbine, SLR etc at Velairpad High School.
The 2 injured students have been identified as Naveen Kumar and Kishore. They have sustained injuries on the chest, ears, lips and legs.
Police have registered a case against the constable.
