Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy visited the Medaram Jathara today, on the second day of the Sammakka Sarakka festival.
During his visit to the jathara site, the minister lamented that the Centre was not giving national festival status to such a mega event.
He said that the biennial jathara was witnessing a huge turnout of devotees at the Chilkalagutta, the abode of the goddesses. He added said that the main ritual to bring goddess Sammakka to the site had taken place.
The minister also interacted with the devotees to seek their opinion on the facilities in the area. He then directed the officials to see to it that no inconvenience was caused to the people while having a darshan of the deities.
Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavati Rathod also visited the jathara site today.
The ministers' visits are a precursor to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's visit the jathara site tomorrow (Friday).
