Chief Minister and TRS boss K Chandrasekhar Rao will visit the Medaram Jathara in Mulugu district on February 18.
KCR is to take a helicopter to reach the site of the festival, also being referred to as the Telangana Kumbh Mela, and will pray and offer obeisance to the deities Sammakka and Sarakka.
KCR will present traditional jaggery to the deities at the site.
Ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Dayakar Rao, and some officials will accompany the Chief Minister.
The biennial tribal festival of Sammakka and Sarakka began on February 16, and will end on February 19 (Saturday). As per the jathara traditions tribal pujaris brought Sarakka to the site on February 16 night, and Sammakka to the altar today.
Officials expect about 1 crore devotees from various states including Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Maharashtra to the jathara - about 70 lakh tribals from various states have come so far according to reports, and 40 lakh more are expected. The state government has spent Rs. 75 crore on the arrangements for the mega-event, and about 10,000 police personnel are guarding the site.
