Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday handed over a letter sanctioning Rs. 35.5 lakhs to Syeda Salva Fatima as financial support for her undergoing a multi-engine rating and type rating training course for pilots.
Fatima, a graduate from Dr B R Ambedkar Open University, is the first Muslim girl from the Old City to pursue the course.
With this money, Fatima will become a full-fledged commercial pilot after completion of the training.
Fatima thanked the Chief Minister for the help.
Congress MLC Farooq Hussain and MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi had earlier requested the state government to consider Fatima's request favourably, and the government and the chief minister responded positively.
The sanction letter is based on the verification of the details of the applicant by the Director, Minorities Welfare. The Director in his report mentioned that the applicant's father was eking out his livelihood by working in a bakery, and the applicant's husband was working in a private company, and so the income of the family was very low, and it could not afford the huge fees. He thereby requested the government for financial support.
The above financial assistance of Rs 35.5 lakhs will be released to the Telangana State Aviation Academy upon the applicant taking admission to the Academy.
MLC Farooq Hussain, Minority Welfare Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel and Special Secretary to the CM Bhoopal Reddy were present on the occasion. (INN)
