Accusing Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao of trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere with his rhetoric against Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas, Information and Broadcasting Minister Geetha Reddy on Tuesday told the TRS chief to chose his words carefully.
Talking to media persons, Geetha Reddy said that KCR must control the language he was using against the Congress party candidates in general, and his chose his words when talking against Srinivas in particular.
Hinting that KCR's loyalty towards Telangana was doubtful, the minister said that the TRS chief had not raised his voice in favour of Telangana when he was the deputy speaker of the state assembly.
She said that KCR has been making wild allegations against the PCC chief but the fact was that it was D Srinivas who was at the forefront of a separate Telangana campaign.
She said that a delegation of 41 MLAs of the state Congress had approached the high command in 2001 and demanded a separate Telangana state.
The Information and Broadcasting Minister said that the TRS had forced the Election Commission to spend an additional Rs. 3 crore by fielding dummy candidates for the assembly seats in a bid to hold the polling through ballot papers.
She reminded that the TRS had won 26 seats in 2004 after fielding candidates in 54 constituencies, when in alliance with the Congress, and just 10 seats after it had fought the 2009 elections in alliance with the 'Mahakutami'.
Geetha Reddy said that now the TRS faces a real test since it is on its own.
She added that the Congress is the only party which can make the dream of Telangana a reality.
