Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao paid floral tributes to the noted Telangana poet and literary icon Dasarathi Krishnamacharya on his 91st birth anniversary, at Ravindra Bharathi.
KCR handed over the Dasarathi award to his teacher Tirumala Srinivasacharya, and felicitated him with a shawl and an amount of Rs. 1,00,116 on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister faulted his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu for the latter's remarks at Rajahmundry, that the people of Hyderabad had no culture and were idle, and that they became active and learnt to wake up early only at the behest of the former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao.
KCR reprimanded Naidu for belittling the Hyderabadi culture and community, and said that the latter should focus on building his Amaravathi and developing the same instead of disparaging Telangana.
"We are fortunate that Hyderabad - a historical city - is our state capital, and Naidu cannot compare his yet-to-be-developed Amaravathi with it," he said.
"It would be better if Naidu minded his own business, else we will teach him a lesson," he warned.
He exhorted the gathering of poets, authors and intellectuals to give Naidu a fitting reply through their works of poetry, books and other literary works.
KCR vowed that the government would come out with a policy to promote Telangana literature, poetry, culture and tradition in a aggressive way.
Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy, Gnanpeeth awardee Dr. C Narayan Reddy and government Advisor K V Ramana Chary were among those who attended the program.
