After hoisting the national flag at the Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy grounds in Anantapur on the occasion of the 70th Indian Independence Day, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu urged the people of the State to join hands with the government to accelerate the State's growth and development.
In his speech, the Chief Minister raised several issues including the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh and the denial of Special Status to Andhra Pradesh among others.
He lamented the bifurcation and reminded the gathering of the damage it caused to the State. He criticized the Congress for causing the bifurcation. He claimed that the State was split as a gift to the Telangana people on the occasion of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's birthday on June 2, 2014, and that very little thought was put into this process. The residual State was not even given a capital, he lamneted.
Despite the hurdles, however, he said that the State's GDP growth rate had increased from 7.5% to 10.99% since 2014, and that Andhra Pradesh was second only to Gujarat in terms of progress as it was attracting several investors and big businesses.
He promised that the AP government would mount pressure on the Union government to solve the issue of the post-bifurcation losses caused to the State, and assured the people that the government would help them stand up once again and rebuild their economy and livelihoods.
