KCR Is CM Due To Congress Sacrifice: D K Aruna

Congress senior leader and former minister D K Aruna on Tuesday claimed that K Chandrasekhar Rao had become the Chief Minister of Telangana due to the sacrifice made by the Congress Party.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office, Aruna said that the erstwhile Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre had granted statehood for Telangana despite realising that it would be wiped out from the Seemandhra region.

Further, the Congress did not take political advantage in Telangana and went to the polls making only realistic promises to the people.

She said that KCR had become the Chief Minister only due to the sacrifices made by the Congress.

Instead of being thankful to the Congress Party, Aruna alleged that KCR was using unparliamentary language against its leaders.

Referring to the "dogs" comment made by KCR, she said that the Chief Minister had insulted the Telangana culture by using such language.

She said that KCR was behaving like an activist, and was not ready to believe that he was the Chief Minister.

Alleging misuse of funds, the Congress leader demanded that the government release a White Paper on the funds spent on the Bathukamma celebrations in the State, especially in Hyderabad.

She also demanded Rs 5 lakhs in ex-gratia for the kin of each of about 200 farmers who had committed suicides since the TRS had come to power in the State.

She also asked the government to pay Rs 5 lakhs in compensation to the families of each of those who had died while working for the Intensive Household Survey.

Aruna also demanded a White Paper on the compensation paid to the martyrs of Telangana, along with complete list of martyrs since the 1969 agitation.

She said that KCR should resign from his post if he was not capable of running the government. (INN)
