Minister for Information and Public Relations D K Aruna, on Saturday, expressed her displeasure over her party seniors' remarks on the outcome of the recent by-elections.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Aruna said that the Congress has lost the confidence of people in the Telangana by-elections mainly due to the party seniors' negative comments.
She alleged that these seniors, instead of properly campaigning for the ruling party's candidates, had indirectly extended support to the candidates of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, and that they had worked for their victory.
Stating that no individual must be held responsible for the Congress' debacle, the minister said the party would be collectively responsible for the drubbing.
She suggested that all Congress leaders make concrete efforts to work unitedly and take the party and government programs and schemes to the doorsteps of people, in order to strengthen its base.
However, she refrained from naming the senior leaders who allegedly indulged in such acts. Instead, she suggested that leaders think about their negative remarks before making them public.
She also asked the MPs to make efforts to achieve a Telangana state by mounting pressure on the Congress High Command.
"It is the responsibility of MPs to achieve a Telangana state by mounting pressure on the Centre," she said. (INN)
