Huzurabad MLA and BRS leader Padi Kaushik Reddy was today booked in three cases under 12 BNS sections by the Karimnagar police for misbehaving with Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar and other Congress leaders during the Karimnagar District Review Committee (DRC) meeting yesterday.
The police registered these cases:
- A case based on a complaint filed by Kumar's PA, alleging that Reddy had not only misbehaved with the MLA but had also attempted to attack him.
- Another case following a complaint by Karimnagar RDO Maheshwar accusing Reddy of creating a ruckus and disrupting the meeting.
- The third case following a complaint by Karimnagar District Library Chairman S Mallesham that Kaushik Reddy had misbehaved with him.
For those unaware, a DRC meeting on the preparedness for development programs was held at the Karimnagar Collectorate yesterday. The district in-charge minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, ministers Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar, and MLAs from the combined district participated in the meeting. However, when the Jagtial MLA was speaking, Kaushik Reddy got into an altercation with him. He asked Sanjay Kumar which party he belonged to, and the argument escalated, leading to a scuffle between the two MLAs.
Kaushik Reddy was forcibly escorted out of the Collectorate meeting hall by the police.
Several Congress leaders expressed their displeasure over Reddy's behaviour. "It was inappropriate for Kaushik Reddy to engage in politics without addressing the people's issues at a meeting meant to resolve the problems of the undivided Karimnagar district," they said.
Kaushik Reddy spoke to the media after the altercation and said that the BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao would become the Chief Minister in three years, and that those officials who had overreacted against him would not be spared. Reddy also warned that MLAs who had switched sides would not be allowed to move freely and would be stopped at every step.
