Telangana IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu today got a major relief after the Nampally Public Representatives Court dismissed a non-bailable case registered against him and 13 others in connection with the Kaleshwaram project land acquisition.
The case dates back to August 23, 2017, when the police had registered a non-bailable FIR against Babu at the Basanth Nagar police station in Peddapalli district for allegedly obstructing officials during a public hearing related to the Kaleshwaram project.
After nearly eight years of proceedings, the court dismissed the case due to a lack of proper evidence and credible witnesses.
Reacting to the verdict, the minister called it a victory for the people, particularly for farmers. "The judiciary has understood the plight of the marginalised farmers, and this judgment further strengthens our faith in the legal system," he said.
He alleged that during the previous BRS regime democracy was virtually non-existent and autocracy prevailed. "Anyone who questioned their actions was slapped with false and illegal cases. In contrast, the Congress government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is progressing in a democratic and transparent manner, upholding justice and constitutional values," he claimed.
