Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy today disrupted Jagtial MLA M Sanjay Kumar's speech and engaged in a verbal spat with him, causing a ruckus during the District Review Committee (DRC) meeting at the Karimnagar Collectorate.
The meeting, which had ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu and Uttam Kumar Reddy in attendance, saw the two MLAs get into a heated argument, reportedly escalating to even physical pushing. The situation was brought under control when the police intervened and escorted Kaushik Reddy out of the meeting.
The altercation began when the Jagtial MLA was preparing to speak and the Huzurabad MLA interrupted demanding to know the affiliation of the turncoat MLA. "Which party do you belong to?" Reddy asked the turncoat MLA. Kumar countered that he represented the Congress, and Reddy responded that he had denied joining the Congress earlier. This led to a heated exchange, and Reddy lunging towards Kumar. Despite efforts by other leaders to mediate, the situation escalated, prompting the police to remove Reddy from the venue.
Speaking to the media afterward, Reddy accused Kumar of aligning himself with the ruling Congress despite the voters electing him as a BRS candidate. "KCR gave Sanjay Kumar the MLA position. He should resign and contest on a Congress ticket," Reddy demanded. He also said that he would continue to question Kumar.
Reddy also alleged that Congress leaders were resorting to violence when he demanded funds for his constituency, and warned them that he would not be intimidated by their threats.
He claimed that only 50% of the crop loan waivers in his constituency had been honoured so far by the Congress government, and demanded that the remaining dues be cleared. He declared his commitment to standing by farmers and demanded Rs 15,000 for farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
He also spoke about the pausing of other benefits provided under the tenure of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, such as the Dalit Bandhu scheme. "18,500 families received the benefit in KCR's tenure. We have requested the second installment of Dalit Bandhu," he said.
He also expressed confidence that KCR would return as chief minister within three years, and warned officials and political opponents that they would not be spared.
