YSR Congress Party President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday filed his nomination papers for the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency seat, with the Returning Officer in the Kadapa district.
Jagan, who is fighting to retain the seat he once held, arrived at the Returning Officer's office along with a massive procession that had started from the YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya. Before filing his nomination papers, Jagan paid tributes to his father, former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
He was accompanied by MLAs Konda Surekha, Karunakar Reddy and actress-turned-politician Roja.
Jagan revealed that he owns assets worth Rs. 365 crores. Incidentally, in 2009, he had declared Rs. 77.40 crores worth assets, and back in 2004, he had declared assets worth Rs. 9.18 lakhs.
Speaking to media persons, Konda Surekha stated that the people of the constituency would give a fitting reply to both the Congress Party and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the by-elections.
Surekha, one of the staunchest supports of Jagan, further said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas were on tenterhooks due to the fear of losing heavily in the by-elections.
"This fear is forcing them to issue diktat after diktat to the Congress cadre who support Jaganmohan Reddy. They are threatening these activists of dire consequences if they continue to support him," she alleged.
Former actress Roja stated that Jagan had launched the YSR Congress Party to effectively implement the schemes launched by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Roja further added that Kiran Kumar Reddy has rewarded the critics of Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy with coveted posts.
"The Congress knows that it will lose in the elections. It is trying to cling on to the good name of YSR, and is claiming the rights to use the late leader's photograph for campaigning," she said.
Meanwhile, Jagan's mother and former MLA Y S Vijayalakshmi will file her nomination papers for the Pulivendula Assembly seat on April 16th. (INN)
