Recalling the good governance of YSR, his widow and YSR Congress Party leader Y S Vijayamma said today that the same model is needed in the residuary state of AP to pave the way for development, and appealed to the people to vote for the YSRCP's fan symbol and keep manipulators like Chandrababu Naidu at bay.
Addressing a public meeting at Perumallapuram in the East Godavari district on Monday as part of the YSR Jana Bheri, she said, "YSR had taken quality treatment to the reach of the poor and provided 4% reservations to the Muslims, and his welfare schemes had touched all sections of the society, and it is such a welfare state that the people are anxiously looking forward to.
"Chandrababu Naidu was interested only in the welfare of his close associates and not in the poor and needy, and that is why he had done away with all the welfare schemes of NTR. Starting his career with 2 acres of land, he has amassed wealth by setting up up branches of his family-run Heritage Foods across the country at the cost of Chittoor Dairy.
"Tehelka.com named Naidu as the most corrupt politician in the country. He is now promising to provide jobs to every family, but he was the person who brought in contract system and discouraged employment opportunities in the government.
"He has boasted of encouraging IT, but the state was in the 3rd place when he took over, and slipped to the 5th place during his term. While there were 81,000 employees in the IT industry while he was Chief Minister, the figure rose to 2.5 lakh during YSR's term.
"This stark difference shows who stands where, and there is every need to bring back the YSR era which is possible only under the leadership of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who has inherited his legacy," she said. (INN)
