Former Nizamabad MP and TRS leader K Kavitha today filed her nomination for the MLC seat under the local bodies category, in the Hyderabad Collectorate.
Minister V Prashant Reddy, MLAs B Ganesh Gupta, Bajireddy Govardhan, Shakeel and Gampa Govardhan, and others accompanied Kavitha when she filed her nomination.
The seat fell vacant following the disqualification of MLC Bhupathi Reddy for joining the Congress from the TRS.
The election for the seat will be held on April 7. The last date for filing nominations is March 19, and that for withdrawal of nominations is March 23.
TRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao selected his daughter for the MLC seat after discussions with the party leaders.
The position is a significant climbdown for Kavitha, who was MP until 9 months back. The TRS boss chose K Keshava Rao and K R Suresh Reddy for the two Rajya Sabha seats from the state earlier this month, opting not to give one to his daughter.
