The TRS won all six seats under the local authorities quota in the five erstwhile districts in the state for which elections were held on December 10.
The results of the elections were announced today, and the TRS defeated the Congress everywhere.
The TRS candidates who won the MLC seats are Bhanu Prasad (584 votes) and L Ramana (479 votes) in Karim Nagar, Dande Vithal (667 votes) in Adilabad, Koti Reddy (917 votes) in Nalgonda, Yadava Reddy in Medak (762 votes) and Thatha Madhu (480 votes) in Khammam districts.
Given that six other seats in the same quota for which too elections were due to happen on December 10 were won by TRS candidates unopposed, the TRS effectively won 12 seats under the quota.
There are 14 MLC seats in the local authorities' quota (one third of the 40 MLC seats), of which 12 went in for elections. All 12 have been won by the TRS.
Of the remaining two seats in the quota, the TRS has one and its ally the AIMIM has the other.
On the whole, in the Telangana Council, the TRS has 34 of 40 seats as of now, and will most likely get one more seat in the Governor's quota that is currently vacant.
