Endowments Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday handed in his resignation for the 2nd time in 3 months, thereby mounting pressure on the government.
Jupally had tendered his resignation letter to All India Congress President Sonia Gandhi and to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on March 3rd, and embarked on a padayatra in the Mahabubnagar district to spread awareness regarding the Telangana issue.
Jupally's Prajabhimanam Yatra was brought to a standstill as it was about to enter Information And Public Relations Minister D K Aruna's constituency, Gadwal. He has sought the permission of KKR, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and DGP Aravinda Rao to conduct his yatra in Gadwal, and the issue is yet to be finalized.
Expressing frustration over the government's purported inaction over the Telangana issue, Jupally handed in his resignation to Governor E S L Narasimhan.
"I waited for 3 months for the Centre to announce the bifurcation of the state, but nothing of that sort has happened and so I have submitted my resignation once again," said Jupally.
The Telangana activist urged other ministers to follow his footsteps and resign from the Congress to mount pressure on the Centre.
"Seemandhra leaders have stalled the formation of Telangana by staging a resignation drama, and we must now fight for Telangana by pulling off a similar act," said Jupally.
The Chief Minister is reportedly in a fix over Jupally's resignation. According to sources, the former fears that if he accepts the latter's bid to quit his ministerial job, other Telangana activists would soon follow suit.
