Senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and MLA T Harish Rao on Tuesday alleged that the government had showed bias once again by appointing 5 judges to the Andhra Pradesh High Court from Seemandhra region.
Talking to media persons on Assembly premises, Harish Rao said that the government had done injustice to Telangana people deliberately by recommending names of judges from Seemandhra region for the appointment of High Court judges.
The MLA's criticism come a day after 5 judges – P Durga Prasad, Suri Appa Rao, K G Ravi Shankar, N Ravishankar and N R L Nageswara Rao, all hailing from Seemandhra regions, took oath as judges of the state High Court on Monday.
Harish Rao alleged that the government had not recommended a single person from Telangana for the judges' post.
The MLA appealed to the government to appoint Telangana people in judicial posts and do justice to them.
"Though Telangana lawyers agitated for justice in law department recruitments, the government has not taken any concrete measures in this regard," Rao pointed out.
Harish Rao demanded that the government give priority to Telangana people in the appointment of law secretary posts, and added that the government should prove its commitment by appointing people from Telangana in legal bodies.
