With less than 24 hours left for the polling, Jai Samaikhyandhra Party candidate for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency Sabbam Hari announced his withdrawal from the contest.
Making the announcement here on Tuesday, Hari said that he was withdrawing from the contest to avoid a splitting of the votes.
While extending indirect support to the TDP-BJP combine, he said that it would be in the interests of the Seemandhra region if the NDA formed the government at the Centre with the TDP-BJP alliance coming to power in the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh.
With the Supreme Court refusing to grant a stay, he said that the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was inevitable. In such a scenario, he said his aim was to protect Visakhapatnam.
Hari said that Seemandhra would experience a catastrophe if the YSR Congress Party came into power. (INN)
