Violence, High Turnout Mark Seemandhra Polls
33% polling was recorded till 11am, with 41% in Kurnool. Meanwhile, more than 20 persons were injured in clashes between activists of YSRCP and TDP.

Thousands of voters lined up at 40,709 polling booths across the 13 districts of Seemandhra region (the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh) where polling is happening to elect representatives for 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal, 33% polling was recorded till 11am on Thursday. About 15% electors cast their votes in the first 2 hours, and the pace increased further till 11am. The highest turnout, till 11am, was witnessed in Kurnool, where 41% of electors cast their votes.
Meanwhile, more than 20 persons were injured in clashes between activists of rival parties at different places.
6 persons were injured in a clash between YSR Congress Party and Telugu Desam Party activists in Parachur in Prakasam district.
3 police vehicles were also damaged in an attack by villagers in Devagudi in Jammalamadugu of Kadapa district.
Clashes between YSRCP and TDP activists were also reported from Anantapur, Chittoor and Guntur districts.
Director General of Police B Prasada Rao said that barring sporadic incidents of violence at some places, the polling was going on peacefully in the Seemandhra region.
He informed that over 100,000 police personnel and 272 companies of central paramilitary forces had been deployed to ensure the peaceful conduct of the elections. (INN)
