Jayasudha Dodges MLC Elections Whip

Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha Kapoor has refused to obey the whip issued by Batti Vikramarka in connection with the upcoming Legislative Council elections.
Hyderabad | 16th March 2011
Secunderabad MLA and film actress Jayasudha Kapoor on Tuesday refused to obey the whip issued by Chief Whip, Mallu Batti Vikramarka, on Tuesday in connection with the Legislative Council elections to be held on March 17th.

According to reports, Vikramarka had issued the whip, directing all MLAs to be present during the voting process, to ensure that the Congress candidates win the elections.

With Jayasudha openly extending support to former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the Congress had issued the whip to all MLAs, instructing them to participate in the MLC elections.

Jayasudha refused to sign the whip form stating that she had given her commitment for the shooting of a film on that day. She has reportedly informed Vikramarka that she will directly come to Assembly to cast her vote in the elections.

"If I sign the whip form and don't go to Assembly for voting, the High Command can initiate action against me," she stated.

The ruling Congress party is taking the Legislative Council elections as a prestige issue, and is keen on ensuring that its candidates win at any cost.
