The Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Assembly K Jana Reddy on Tuesday demanded that the state government provide compensation to all the farmers who were affected by the unseasonal rains across Telangana.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy said that thousands of farmers had lost their standing crops, and that the state government should purchase the damaged crops at above Minimum Support Price (MSP) so as to help the affected farmers.
He advised the government to hire experts to complete the damage assessment in a time-bound manner.
He also demanded that the government extend all assistance to the family members of the farmers killed in the unseasonal rains. (INN)
