Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today said that the State government would extend all possible support to the farmers who had suffered significant losses due to untimely rains and hailstorms in Telangana, and would provide compensation to them after the completion of enumeration.
The minister participated in various programmes in Miryalaguda mandal of Nalgonda districts. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the crop losses would be assessed and compensation given to the farmers based after the exercise.
The minister also promised that the State government would purchase every grain of paddy that was damaged due to the untimely rains and hailstorms.
He also warned rice millers that their mills would be seized if the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy was not paid to the farmers.
"Injustices to farmers will not be tolerated. Action will be taken against any miller who refuses to pay the MSP for the paddy crop," Reddy said.
The minister alleged that the previous BRS government led by K Chandrashekar Rao had mortgaged the interests of Telangana to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, and had allowed that State to draw water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers illegally.
"During the last ten years, KCR did a lot of injustice to the whole of South Telangana due to incomplete irrigation projects. The people will never forgive KCR," he claimed.
