With Telangana Congress leaders queuing up to join the ruling TRS, a disgusted CLP leader K Jana Reddy on Tuesday announced his intention to quit all posts after consulting AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
He also lashed out at the TRS for encouraging defections and expressed disgust over the ruling Party resorting to cheap politics, and stressed the need for the Anti-Defection Law being immediately amended.
Reddy also demanded that all those who left the Congress immediately resign from their MLA and MP posts and seek a fresh mandate from the people.
Reddy said the recent developments in the Congress hurt him deeply and prompted him to decide to quit all Party posts for the welfare of the people.
"In the wake of all the defections from the Congress, should I continue in the posts? I don't want any post. In protest against the immoral defections from the Party, I have decided to sacrifice all posts," he said.
He said that he would discuss with Party supremo Sonia Gandhi about his decision.
The CLP leader said that he was least interested in accepting even bigger posts. "Even if they offer bigger posts, I don't want them. I will remain grateful to Sonia Gandhi forever for carving out a separate Telangana state," he added.
Referring to the oft-repeated slogan of the Chief Minister "Bangaru Telangana", Reddy asked Telangana's intellectuals, people and the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao himself whether Bangaru Telangana meant luring other Parties' leaders into the TRS.
