Focusing on the massive defections and the threat to Shabbir Ali, the Congress accused the TRS of functioning in a totally "unethical and undemocratic" manner.
The Telangana Congress Legislature Party on Saturday accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of murdering democracy in the State.
Addressing the media along with the Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, former Union minister Balram Naik and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, the Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Assembly K Jana Reddy said that the TRS government was functioning in a totally "unethical and undemocratic" manner.
"The actions of the TRS are deserving of being condemned by everyone who believes in democracy. They are luring or intimidating each and every elected representative to win the elections or increase their tally. KCR wants to wipe out the entire Opposition through undemocratic means," he added.
Reddy alleged that the threatening call made to Shabbir Ali was a clear example of how the TRS government was intimidating the Opposition leaders.
Similarly, he said, the TRS leaders tried to disrupt the rally of Deputy CLP leader Dr J Geetha Reddy in Medak on Saturday.
"Such acts of violence and intimidation shows that the TRS leaders have no faith in democracy or the Constitution," he said.
Furnishing statistics, Jana Reddy said that the TRS had fielded its candidates for all the 12 MLC seats going for elections under the local authorities' quota without having required the number of MPTCs, ZPTCs, Councillors and Corporators to win them.
Citing an example, he said that the TRS had just four votes out of 1,200 local body members in the Khammam district while the Congress had 136, the TDP 295, the BJP 103, the CPM 83, the CPI 55 and the YSRCP 121 members.
"Without luring or intimidating Opposition members, how could the TRS win the Khammam MLC seat with just four votes?" he asked.
Similarly, the Congress had a clear majority in the Mahabubnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy and Warangal districts. In the Mahabubnagar district, the Congress had 473 members compared to the 371 members of the TRS, and in the Nalgonda district the Congress was on top with 544 members followed by the TDP with 192 and the TRS with 138. Likewise, in the Nizamabad district, too, the Congress was ahead of the TRS by seven votes with 301 members, and in the Ranga Reddy district, the Congress had 280 members compared with the TRS' 169 and the TDP's 166. And in the Warangal district, the Congress had 364 votes compared to the 277 members of the TRS.
Reddy said that the Congress leaders had approached the President of India, the Telangana Governor, the Election Commission and other authorities concerned on the open violations by the TRS, but had got no positive response.
"Now we will directly to go the public and expose the undemocratic and dictatorial rule of KCR," Jana Reddy swore.
